Our Purpose

Matthew 28: 19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. A-men.” 

These words of our Savior are dear to the heart of any Baptist.  They are challenging words, motivating words, the  marching orders of the church…they are the “Great Commission.”  Our purpose is to make Christ known in all the world, and to make disciples in all nations.  We are in partnership with Christ in this Co-mission!  Remove the prefix ‘co’ and you have ‘mission.’  Missions (evangelizing and new church planting) are promoted, sponsored, and supported to a great extent here at Hillcrest Baptist Church.   From our annual ‘Missions Conference’ in the fall,  our Thanksgiving Missions Offering, Christmas Mission Offering, Mission Builders, as well as various mission trips throughout the year, there is always an opportunity for EVERYONE to participate in some type of mission endeavor.   At the present time, HBC sponsors and/or supports 27 missions and ministries on a regular monthly basis.  We count it a great privilege to cooperate with other churches in the American Baptist Association to advance the Word and Work of Christ!
